Anwar Back in Parliament

YB Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as the new Member of Parliament for Permatang Pauh at the Dewan Rakyat this morning. He is also the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.

I am no fan of his but he has fought it out and made it back to Parliament. Well done and Congratulations DSAI! The people of Permatang Pauh had spoken loud and clear. We accept and respect that.

DSAI had received
67% of the Malay votes in Permatang Pauh. It ought to tell something to our UMNO brothers. Despite UMNO's campaigning that DSAI is a threat to Malay supremacy, more Malay voters voted for DSAI then the BN Candidate. UMNO leaders should think about it and realize that fewer and fewer Malays are buying into the Malay supremacy concept. Of course the Chinese and Indians are repulsed by it.

UMNO leaders must also come into terms that holding on to this concept will push BN to the brink of collapse. It is difficult to contain the fight over this concept within the four walls of BN for long as component parties are finding it hard to explain to their communities as to why they are in partnership with a party that pushes for supremacy of one race over the other. Its difficult to keep telling people that we are fighting it internally when we have very little to show for it.

Component parties in BN have three options; either push UMNO to change its course, sink with it or go our separate ways. Only time will tell.

Mr Murugesan, I wish you could update your blog every now and then. Being an aspiring leader of the community I wish we could hear more of your views in brief and not lengthy thesis format. It bores! I am being blunt for your own good. You could even share what you thought while driving to work etc. Blogs are free brother. Don bother what uncle Sam is going to say about your blog. Feel free to express yourself. There is no point having a blog and not blogging like your former Youth chief who is not engaged in training future gangsters! Be bold brother. Anyway I hope your arm is out of cast and back at work!

Thefirewithin, you are damn right it’s a blog; HIS BLOG. The owner of the blog should be able to write what he wishes, when ever he wishes and to the length he wishes.

Muru; you are doing fine. In fact I have even noticed how much you have progressed. Your recent radical comments made without ‘fear or favour’ was a joy to read. I know you have a lot to say and you are saying it well.

My only advice is; do as your wish as you are doing just great!

Dass

Just out of curiosity; I checked Sivarasah’s blog. Nothing since June 03 2008, neither long nor short! I suppose he has been very bussy!

Yo Bo!! Firewithin; why so arrogant? The fire has burnt up the intelligence is it? The Good Guy is telling it as it is; what’s your prob? Democracy in Malaysia exists no perfectly then in the blogging sphere. Putting it bluntly; If you don’t like what you read too bad; you have a choice to read or otherwise.

The long or short of it is, if you’re bored, it’s your problem. As for us we are happy to read Muru’s views.

Keep up the good work Muru

You share what you can, you write what you think, as much as you like and you don’t change a thing.
Good on you. Keep it up.

The fire within seems like intelligence without! Sorry to be so blunt!

The length and content of an article or commentary in a blog is entirely up the whim and fancy of the blogger. In the Blogging sphere the only rule is that there are no rules but one expectation; that people exercise decorum and decency in their words.

Dear Cikgu Ravi,

MIC, in order to serve the Community better must relook at itself and set right what is wrong. MIC must reconnect with the community and listen carefully to the community's need. We thought we have been listening and serving the community but the voters resoundingly told us otherwise. Now its back to the drawing board.

Rebranding MIC, contrary to popular misconception, is not just about changing the party's outer image. Rebranding is not about changing the party's logo, its song or its uniform.

Rebranding MIC is about changing the mindset of our leaders, from Branch Chairman all the way to the top. Its about reconnecting with our clients, which is essentially the Indian Community. It is about changing the way we do things and reorganising our priorities.

There is more openness and transparency within the party now. Perhaps you would have noticed that more MIC Leaders are giving statements and taking stands on a wide range of issues. Some of the statements are in direct contrast with that of BN and party leadership.

Of course 2 million Indians in Malaysia each have their own idea as to what MIC should do to reallign itself with the community. Rebranding is the path that MIC have chosen and we are working on it, quietly but surely.

A stronger, a reconnected, a transparent and robust MIC will surely will be able to serve the Indian Community better.

Happy Deepavali Cikgu.
